Out of the 23 judges appointed as additional judges of the High Court Division following the July uprising, 22 have now been made permanent, while one judge has been excluded from the permanent list.

The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification on Tuesday (November 11) regarding the permanent appointments, under the directive of the President.

According to the notification, the appointments were made by the President in consultation with the Chief Justice, as per Article 95 of the Constitution.

However, Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury has not been made permanent. He is the son of BNP leader Nitai Roy Chowdhury.

Last year, on October 8, these judges were appointed as additional judges of the High Court Division. Their appointments took effect the next day after they took the oath of office.

The 22 judges who have been made permanent are:

Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mojumdar, Justice Syed Enayet Hossain, Justice Md. Monsur Alam, Justice Syed Zahed Monsur, Justice K.M. Rasheduzzaman Raja, Justice Md. Zabid Hossain, Justice Mubina Asaf, Justice Kazi Waliul Islam, Justice Ainun Nahar Siddika, Justice Md. Abdul Mannan, Justice Tamanna Rahman, Justice Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud, Justice Md. Hamidur Rahman, Justice Nasrin Akter, Justice Sathika Hossain, Justice Syed Mohammad Tajrul Hossain, Justice Md. Toufique Inam, Justice Yusuf Abdullah Suman, Justice Sheikh Tahsin Ali, Justice Faiz Ahmed, Justice Md. Sagir Hossain, and Justice Shikdar Mahmudur Raji.
