In the last 24 hours (Sunday 8 am to Monday 8 am), 79 people have been hospitalized due to dengue fever. 20 of them are outside Dhaka.
With this, 3 thousand 263 dengue patients were admitted to hospital in the country this year. So far, 15 people have died due to this fever carried by Aedes mosquito.
This information was informed in the press release of the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Monday.
According to the notification, 360 dengue patients are under treatment. 74 of them are receiving treatment outside Dhaka.
Residents of the capital have been suffering from dengue for more than two decades. In 2019, the number of people affected by dengue fever exceeded all previous records. The official death toll that year was 179. 1 lakh 1 thousand 354 people were affected across the country.
This time the highest number of dengue cases and deaths occurred in the month of July. Health department has given the information of death of 9 people this month. During this time, 1 thousand 571 dengue patients were identified.
Apart from this, 603 people were admitted to the hospital with dengue on the 8th day of this month. Five people died during this period.
Experts had earlier warned the city corporation about the danger of dengue outbreak this year. They also advised the city corporations to take immediate measures to control Aedes mosquitoes. However, no city corporation has been seen to take such effective steps so far.
