In reaction to the exclusion of Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has instructed that the broadcast of the Indian Premier League (IPL) be suspended in Bangladesh.
The directive was issued on Monday (January 5) through an official letter sent to television channels.
The letter stated that it has come to the authorities’ attention that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to exclude Bangladesh’s star player Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad for the upcoming IPL, scheduled to begin on March 26. No reasonable justification for such a decision by the BCCI is known, and this move has hurt, distressed, and angered the people of Bangladesh.
Under these circumstances, the letter instructed the chief executives of television channels to suspend the broadcast or transmission of all IPL matches and related programs until further notice.
