The High Court has asked the Dhaka Wasa Managing Director (MD) Taksim A Khan to know what benefits he has received through contractual appointments in the last 13 years, including salary and allowances. The WASA board has been asked to submit all related reports within the next 60 days.
In view of a writ petition made by the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), Justice Md. Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Kazi Md. The High Court bench consisting of Izarul Haque Akand gave this order on Wednesday.
In addition to this, the High Court issued a ruling to the relevant authorities asking why the inaction of the relevant authorities of the government in removing WASA MD Taksim A Khan should be declared illegal despite the failure to provide service. Until he is removed, the rule also asked why his pay should not be ordered to be fixed as per the National Pay Scale 2015.
Local Government Secretary, Dhaka WASA Board and others concerned have been asked to respond to the rule within the next four weeks.
Cab convenor architect Mobaswer Hossain filed this writ on July 31. Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua participated in the hearing on behalf of the writ petitioner. Deputy Attorney General Arvind Kumar Roy appeared for the state.
Jyotirmoy Barua told reporters that the WASA board has directed the department to submit the accounts of the salary allowance, festive allowance and TA-DA, among other benefits, to the managing director through various resolutions in the last 13 years in the High Court within the next 60 days.
Taksim A Khan has been discussed and criticized at various times. Since 2009, he has been the MD of Dhaka Wasar. His tenure has been extended six times since his first appointment. Currently, he is taking 6 lakh 25 thousand taka per month as salary allowance.
