After the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet near Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, third-grade student Raeesa Moni had been missing. Despite frantic searches by her family across various locations and hospitals, there was no trace of her—until now. Sadly, Raeesa has been found, but she is no longer alive.

Following extensive inquiries and visits to multiple hospitals, her body was finally located at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

On Tuesday (July 22) at around 6 PM, Raeesa’s uncle, Imdadul Sheikh, confirmed the news to the media. Earlier in the afternoon, her father, Shahabul Sheikh, identified Raeesa’s body at Dhaka CMH.

Raeesa Moni was a student of class three at Milestone School and College, Uttara, Dhaka. Her student code was 2010, and she belonged to the “Sky” section.

The missing child hailed from Bajra village in Gopalpur Union of Alfadanga upazila in Faridpur. She was the daughter of Shahabul Sheikh.

Speaking to the media, Raeesa’s cousin, Tarikul Sheikh, confirmed the tragic news, saying that Raeesa had been found, but she is no longer alive. Her father personally identified her body.

He further mentioned that Raeesa was the second among three siblings. She had an elder sister and a younger brother. The family is now devastated by the news.

Uncle Imdadul Sheikh said, “Raeesa Moni is no more. Nearly 80 percent of her body has been burned.”

“The burns are most severe from her abdomen up to her head. However, her father was able to identify her by looking at her face,” he added.

He also stated, “The body has been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for DNA sample collection. The police informed us that after collecting DNA samples, the body will be handed over to the family. Once we receive the body, we will take her to the village today for burial.”
