The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors announced the 15-member squad for the Asia Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates. Right-handed top-order batsmen Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have returned to the team led by Rohit Sharma.
In-form Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer has been dropped from the main team. He has been kept as a reserve cricketer. Besides, Jasprit Bumrah did not get a place in the team due to injury.
The Asia Cup cricket tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates on August 27. Rohit’s team will face Pakistan on August 28. Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi and veteran Yuzvendra Chahal are in the squad. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Abesh Khan and Hardik Pandya are in the pace attack.
Dinesh Karthik got a place in the team despite not doing well in the West Indies tour. There is spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Experienced Ravishchandan Ashwin got the place. India can also count on this team for the World Cup held in Australia in October. Only Bumrah can join.
