Sends Letter to Narendra Modi.jpg

The Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) has sent a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding the return of Sheikh Hasina for trial. The letter also protested against providing shelter to Sheikh Hasina, who is accused in the July massacre, and against Delhi’s aggression in Bangladesh’s affairs.

On Wednesday afternoon, the letter—written in both English and Bangla—was submitted at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. It was signed by JAGPA Vice President and party spokesperson Rashed Pradhan.

Upon arrival at the High Commission, no official came forward to receive the letter directly. Instead, it was accepted through Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of the Diplomatic Security Division, Talat Mahmud Shahan Shah.

Addressing the Prime Minister of India, the letter stated:

“Advance greetings to the people of India on the occasion of your 78th Independence Day. We would like to remind you that during the Liberation War in 1971, Bangladesh began its diplomatic journey with India, when the Indian forces looted assets worth nearly 4 billion US dollars from Bangladesh. From the very beginning, India wanted to see Bangladesh as a tributary state, which has undermined our sovereignty and independence.”

The letter further stated that India has long deprived Bangladesh of its fair share of water from 54 common rivers flowing between the two countries. India has also illegally occupied parts of Bangladesh.

Furthermore, India has used transit routes and corridors through Bangladesh at various times for its own benefit.

Above all, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and the Indian Armed Forces have unlawfully interfered in Bangladesh’s administration—an unethical act that is shameful for India.
