Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports have been asked to display local warning signal number 3 due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.

The Meteorological Department issued this marine warning in a message on the latest weather conditions on Thursday morning.

According to the warning, the pronounced low pressure over Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas of India is moving westward and weakening as a low pressure over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas of India. Due to this, there is an excess of air pressure difference in the North Bay of Bengal and the coastal areas of Bangladesh. Under its influence, stormy winds may blow in sea ports, North Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Bangladesh.

It is also said that due to its influence, the water in the coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalkathi, Pirojpur Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barisal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar and the nearby islands and rivers in the low-lying areas are normal tides. There is a risk of flooding with an increase of 2-4 feet.

Fishing boats and trawlers operating in North Bay of Bengal have been asked to proceed cautiously close to the coast until further notice.
