BNP leaders have asked the activists to prepare to occupy the streets to overthrow the government. The rally was organized in front of the central office of BNP in Nayapaltan of the capital on Thursday to protest the killing of two leaders of BNP in Bhola along with the increase in fuel oil prices, unprecedented load shedding, increase in public transport fares and prices of daily necessities. Organized jointly by Dhaka Metropolitan North-South BNP, the rally started at 2 pm, but from 9 am, leaders and activists started gathering from different places of the capital. With the passage of time, activists started pouring into Nayapaltan and its surrounding areas. Sometimes the sweaty sun, sometimes wet with the rain, the leaders and activists took position on both sides of the street in front of the BNP central office. At one point the gathering extended from Fakirapool to Nightingale Junction and nearby Oligley. As a result, traffic in the area was also stopped.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the chief guest at the conference, said, “We must jump in this fight to restore democracy, we must occupy the streets. Through street fighting, we must remove this fascist monstrous government and truly build a people’s government, a people’s state, a people’s society. He announced that the program of protest rallies and marches will continue at upazila-district-metropolitan level across the country from August 22.

He said, we will spread at the village level. We will force this government to resign through a peaceful and united movement of the people in the districts, upazilas and cities.

Highlighting the current context of the country, Mirza Fakhrul said, today the price of rice, dal, oil is increasing. On the other hand, the problem of electricity is increasing. The government has made no arrangements to extract gas from my country to import, corrupt and steal. Importing gas with their own people has increased the price of electricity today. 28,000 Crores of electricity per year for quick rental power plants. 78 thousand crore rupees have already been smuggled. In the last seven years, about 270 billion dollars have been generated. Of this, Bangladesh Bank has an account of 240 billion dollars. Our question – where did this 30 billion dollars go? Who took? People want to know that.

The BNP Secretary General complained of arresting and obstructing the activists at various places while attending the rally and demanded their immediate release.

It’s time to leave BNP – a member of the standing committee of the party criticized the statement of a ruling minister. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said, BNP will not leave. Mirza Abbas, a member of the party’s standing committee, said that Awami League has led the country to bankruptcy. In the last 5 years, 6.5 lakh crore rupees have been smuggled. This government must be brought down at any cost. Because all disappearances, murders and killings must be prosecuted.

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, a member of the Standing Committee, said, “We have only one demand – Sheikh Hasina should resign, this Parliament should be abolished, a non-partisan neutral government should be given, and this Election Commission should be abolished.” When we went down the road. 148 suspects arrested in Uttara: Police arrested 148 suspected passengers from five passenger buses in the capital. Yesterday, the airport and Uttara Purba Thana police conducted a joint operation and arrested these passengers.

It is known that they were detained on the way to the pre-announced rally of BNP. They are leaders and activists of different levels of Gazipur district BNP. In this regard, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir complained that the police had detained party leaders and activists since the previous day around the BNP rally. As a result of this, more than 150 of their leaders and activists from Uttara were arrested and taken to the police station on their way to the rally from Gazipur.

Meanwhile, when asked the reason for suddenly detaining so many passengers together, the police of two police stations of Uttara division of Dhaka said that they were detained because their movement seemed suspicious. Interrogation of the detained passengers is going on at the police station.
