Jatiya Party (Japa) Chairman and Deputy Leader of the Opposition GM Quader said, now the people’s representatives have become kings, common people are subjects. We no longer want a king, the people of the country want their right to elect their representatives back. So a free, impartial, fair and acceptable election is the need of the hour.

He said this at a protest rally organized in front of the Jatiya Party’s central office at Kakrail in the capital on Monday to protest against the increase in fuel prices.

Jatiya Party has announced a two-day program to protest the increase in oil prices. On August 10, a nationwide protest rally and demonstration will be held.

GM Quader said that the government is saying that the country has enough foreign exchange reserves. The government is currently scrambling for loans despite saying that six to nine months of import expenses can be met with existing reserves.

He said that the government is abusing the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) day and night and is protesting for loans there. Why are you protesting for loans now? We have enough reserves. Where is the reserve now?

Japa chairman also said that the government has increased the price of fuel oil on the advice of the IMF. If the IMF asks to kill people, will the government kill people? The government has increased fuel prices unprecedentedly.
