Hamza Chowdhury of Bangladeshi origin made his name from England’s top level football to the second division football. He joined Watford on loan from Leicester City.
Watford have confirmed the signing of the 24-year-old defensive midfielder. Hamza wanted to leave the club after not getting a chance to play regular matches at Leicester. He was very close to leaving the club last season as well.
Hamza Chowdhury got the chance to play only six matches in the league last season. Another Championship club, West Brom, was in the running to sign the young midfielder. Hamza, who had a season-long contract with Leicester, eventually joined Watford of his own choosing.
Hamza’s father is Bangladeshi and mother is Nigerian. He is the first footballer of Bangladesh origin to play in Europe’s top league. He has the opportunity to play in Bangladesh or Nigeria. But Hamza, who was born in England, dreams of playing in England.
The five feet 10 inches tall midfielder played for Leicester’s youth team from 2011 to 2015. Joining Leicester’s first team in 2015, he scored one goal in 53 league appearances. He made 26 appearances for Burton Albion in two seasons.
