Kumar Biswajit Nandit is a singer and music director. He has passed four decades of musical career. Talked to him about this long tour and other topics – he has passed four decades of musical life. What do you see when you look back?
I started my career as a professional musician in 1982 with the song ‘Tore Puthule Kake Sajiye’. Although I started singing even earlier. I have taken the career period since the early eighties because I want to illustrate the career graph in a different way. At this time, I felt that I could have done something better. I got people’s love more than my actions. Never compromised on music. As a result, I never succeeded, never again. I sacrificed a lot for music. When I entered the world of music, I was not in a position to take up music as a profession. I worked to overcome this situation.
There must be some arrangement for the 40th anniversary
of course. There are various plans to complete four decades of musical life. Preparations are already underway to celebrate the special moment. Many of those who contributed to my musical career are no longer alive. They will be remembered in the event. If everything goes well, this event will be held in October or November.
Do you have anything new in this arrangement?
yes For this event, I am making some of my favorite songs in new music. The work has already progressed a lot. I think there are many beautiful words in those songs, which should be spread among the new generation. There is really a dearth of good words and tunes now.
Whose contribution in this long journey?
First of all, I want to thank God. My mother has contributed a lot to come this far, she has given me a lot of encouragement. Various composers, music directors have also contributed in the long run. They sang their good creations to me.
You have many popular songs. If you talk about your favorite songs…
More than 30 popular songs in 40 years. There are many requests to sing them in stage shows. Even if you sing for three hours at a time, the song of request will not end. This is a big find for me. Every song is like a child to me. So it is difficult to tell apart. However, the songs ‘Tore Putul Kare Sajiye’, ‘Tumi Roz Bickel’, ‘Jekhandei Shimand Tomar’, ‘Ektara Bajaio Na’ – gave me a different dimension.
How are the activities of the ‘Songeet Oikya’ organization going?
We have given 17 demands to the government. Some demands have been implemented. Even if a little late, many of our demands will be fulfilled. The organization is working tirelessly for that purpose. If the demand is met, the talent, labor and creation of many people in the music world will be properly evaluated. I am working with the goal that no artist has to leave the world with a miserable name.
So far we have only organized picnics. Now we are organizing to collect the demands. The inconsistency that was there in 50 years has been fixed a lot.
