Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar again. He took oath as Chief Minister at Raj Bhavan of the state on Wednesday around 2 pm. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav took oath as Deputy Chief Minister along with Nitish.

On this day, Governor Fagu Chauhan read their oath at Raj Bhavan.

Meanwhile, after the JDU left the NDA, the BJP suffered a double blow in Bihar on the same day on Wednesday. Ram Majhi’s party Ham won by announcing that he had left the BJP.

After Nitish Kumar’s resignation, Ham chief Jiten Ram Majhi held a meeting with the party leaders. After that meeting, Hum expressed his unconditional support to the Nitish-led grand coalition government. Which means, they also left the NDA.

Former Bihar Chief Minister Jiten Ram Majhi’s party has four MLAs. With the support of Jiten Ram’s party along with the grand coalition parties, Nitish’s position has been further strengthened.

This government of ‘grand coalition’ was formed with the cooperation of seven parties.

On Wednesday, Nitish Kumar went to meet the Governor again along with Tejashwi Yadav and presented the demand of government formation before him. A total of 164 MLAs submitted letters of support to the Governor.

Among them, JDU 45, RJD 79, Congress 19, Left 16, Hum Party 4, independent party 1 have support. The magic figure is 122 in the 243-seat Bihar Assembly. There are many grand alliances.

In that case, the cabinet can be formed in the previous formula. In other words, the cabinet positions which Nitish’s erstwhile alliance partner BJP got, are going to go to the hands of RJD and its allies. And the positions that were held by JDU, remain in the hands of the MLAs of Nitish’s party. However, only these two took the oath on this day. It is said that the rest of the cabinet will be formed on August 15.

Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi along with Lalu Prasad’s family members and several VIPs were present at the swearing-in ceremony on this day.

Nitish and Tejashwi congratulated each other after taking oath on this day.

After this, Nitish challenged Modi in a short speech.

He said, ‘I am not cherished for the post of Prime Minister. But I have only one question, who came to power in Delhi in 2014 with huge majority, will he come back to power in 2024 general elections?

In reference to the accusation of insulting people’s verdict, he said that they (BJP) can say what they want whether I stay or not till 2024.

He also said, I did not want to become the Chief Minister after the 2020 election results. But I was pressured. Ask the rest of the group where they were dropped off. Then you also saw what happened.

Earlier on Tuesday, Nitish Kumar sat in a meeting with the party leaders. In that meeting, Nitish decided to break the alliance with the BJP and resign. Later in the afternoon he met the governor and submitted his resignation letter. He went straight from the Raj Bhavan to the residence of Lalu Prasad Yadav-Rabri Devi and met Tejaswi Yadav. In that meeting, he emphasized on starting a new relationship with the Grand Alliance.

After the 2015 assembly elections, Nitish’s JDU, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD and Congress formed a grand alliance to counter the BJP. In 2017, Nitish left the RJD and joined hands with the BJP to form the government after raising allegations of corruption. In 2021, the BJP kept its old promise by making Nitish the Chief Minister despite getting fewer seats than the BJP.
