Mourning continues at the Rajshahi residence of deceased pilot Toukir Islam Sagar, who died in a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash in Diabari, Dhaka.
On Monday (July 21) afternoon, the grief-stricken family members were seen lamenting at their home in Sector 3 of the Rajshahi Satellite Town.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Air Force transported Toukir’s family to Dhaka via a helicopter. Around 5 PM, they were flown from Rajshahi Airport to Dhaka.
Toukir’s family has been living in a rented house in Rajshahi’s Satellite Town for nearly 25 years. The house they currently reside in is named ‘Ashroy’ and is located at House No. 223, Sector 3. His father, Tohurul Islam, mother, Saleha Khatun, and sister, Brishti Khatun, live there.
Toukir’s uncle, Rafiqul Islam, was standing in front of the house. He said that a RAB (Rapid Action Battalion) vehicle arrived in the afternoon and took Toukir’s father Tohurul Islam, mother Saleha Khatun, sister Brishti Khatun, Brishti’s husband Dr. Tuhin Islam, and another uncle Mohammad Ali. They were flown from Hazrat Shah Makhdum (R.A.) Airport in Rajshahi to Dhaka on a Bangladesh Air Force aircraft. Toukir’s wife already resides in a government quarter in Dhaka.
Rafiqul said, “I have never seen such a good boy. I never imagined we would lose him this way.”
Family members mentioned that Toukir’s father, Tohurul Islam, is originally from Chapainawabganj and is involved in import-export business. He has been living in Rajshahi for about 25 years.
Toukir studied at Rajshahi’s New Government Laboratory School until sixth grade before enrolling in the 34th batch of Pabna Cadet College in the seventh grade. After completing his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from cadet college in 2016, he joined the Bangladesh Air Force. He got married about a year ago.
