Lokesh Rahul was ruled out of England tour due to injury. He got a place in the squad against Zimbabwe, but there were concerns about whether he would get a chance in the team or not. This time he got the medical team’s clearance and joined the main squad and regained the leadership. Under the captaincy of Lokesh Rahul, India is going to Zimbabwe to play a three-match ODI series.

In a statement BCCI said, ‘The board’s medical team has cleared Rahul to play. Then Rahul was given the responsibility of the captain for the tour of Zimbabwe by the BCCI selection committee. Dhawan will play as Rahul’s deputy.

India will start the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe from August 18. The next two matches will be on August 20 and 22 respectively. After the tour of Zimbabwe, India will start the Asia Cup with a full strength team from August 27. India have rested senior players for the Asia Cup tour of Zimbabwe.
