Awami League Joint General Secretary and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that in the last 10 years, 90 percent of agriculture has been mechanized in the country. As a result, the export of agricultural products is earning more than one billion dollars annually, and the government plans to increase it further in the future.

He said, every year in our country 20 to 22 million people increase, every year agricultural land decreases by 200,000 acres. Yet we are self-sufficient in food and also export agricultural produce. This incredible change was made possible by agricultural mechanization.

The minister said these things in the speech of the chief guest connected online at the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Agricultural Technology Fair’ in Rangunia, Chittagong on Wednesday afternoon.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jamshedul Alam presided over the inauguration ceremony of this three-day long fair under Noakhali, Feni, Laxmipur, Chittagong and Chandpur Agricultural Development Project at Rangunia Upazila Parishad Auditorium. Upazila Parishad Chairman Swajan Kumar Talukder was the special guest. Upazila Agriculture Officer Karima Akter gave the welcome speech.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, in fact, the success that Bangladesh has been able to show under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina in terms of agricultural production is incredible and an example for the whole world. Bangladesh is the 92nd country in the world in terms of size; But it ranks third in rice and freshwater fish production, fourth in vegetable production and seventh in potato production.
