Former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived in Thailand.

Gotabaya has left Singapore, Singapore’s immigration authorities said on Thursday.
Later, Rajapakse arrived at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok on a chartered flight from Singapore.
It is said that the Sri Lankan leader who fled the country in the face of intense protests has sought temporary refuge in Thailand.
Rajapakse is expected to stay in Thailand temporarily. Earlier, he escaped from Sri Lanka and came to Singapore on July 14. After that he resigned from the post of President.
According to Thai authorities, Gotabaya, a former military officer, will stay in Thailand temporarily. He has no intention of seeking political asylum.
On Wednesday, Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said it was a humanitarian issue and one thing we agreed on was that his visit was temporary. Gotabaya cannot participate in any political activities while in Thailand.
Thailand’s Foreign Minister Don Pramuddin said that the Sri Lankan government is supporting Gotabaya’s visit to Thailand. His diplomatic passport will allow him to stay in Thailand for 90 days.
Gotabaya has not appeared in public and made any comments since leaving Sri Lanka. Reuters was also unable to contact him.
Economic crisis occurs in Sri Lanka due to various reasons including coronavirus. Due to which the remittances coming to the country decreases, the price of fuel and food increases. Enraged by this, people took to the streets. Gotabaya Rajapakse was forced to flee the country in the face of intense protests.
