In Abhaynagar, Jashore, a mobile court has seized 1,000 liters of fuel from a fertilizer and pesticide shop owned by a businessman named Puspal Kabiraj. The businessman was also fined 5,000 taka.
The operation was conducted late Monday night (April 20) under the supervision of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Salauddin Dipu, led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ashish Kumar Basu. The accused businessman, Puspal Kabiraj, is the son of Amar Kabiraj from Sundali village under Sundali Union in the upazila.
According to Ibrahim Hossain Munna, clerk of the mobile court, the raid was carried out around 11:00 PM on Monday based on a tip-off. The operation took place at Puspal Kabiraj’s fertilizer and pesticide shop located in front of the Sundali Union Parishad office. During the raid, approximately 800 liters of diesel and 200 liters of petrol were recovered from inside the shop.
Later, the mobile court fined the accused businessman.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ashish Kumar Basu, who presided over the mobile court, told Kaler Kantho that the businessman was fined under Section 20 of the Petroleum Act 2016 for illegally storing fuel in a fertilizer and pesticide shop.
The recovered fuel has been confiscated.
