This information was given in a press conference at RAB’s media center in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar on Monday.
In a press conference , the commander of RAB -3, Lt. Col. Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed, said that a fake IMEI number device was also found during the raid on the fake phone manufacturing factory on Sunday. At least 50 fake phones were made there a day.
It was said in the press conference that Swapan’s village home is in Jamalpur. Two years ago, he came to Motijheel in Dhaka in search of work. There he worked as an office assistant for some time in an office. He met a phone repairman through a worker there.
RAB official Arif Mohiuddin said, although Swapan studied up to the fifth standard, his technical knowledge was good. At one point, he quit his job as an office assistant and started repairing mobile phones without pay. After learning this job, he started making phones by watching various videos on YouTube. In the last two years, about 10,000 fake phones have been made and distributed in different areas of the country.
Arif Mohiuddin said, Swapan used to spend 500 to 800 taka to make each phone. He used to sell each of these for 1,500 to 2,000 taka. During the initial interrogation, Swapan has admitted that he has bought a lot of land in his village in the last two years by earning money in this way.
