There is a lot to think about the third gender people in the society but the number of people working for their development is very few. However, actor Bappi Chowdhury came forward to stand beside these deprived people.
Voluntary organization JCI Dhaka West has started a program called ‘Fight for Equality’ to solve the social problems of third gender people. And this actor known as ‘Hero’ has been associated with this initiative.
Bappi Chowdhury recently attended the inaugural function of ‘Fight for Equality’. There, he said, ‘Heard the sufferings of third gender people at various times and wanted to do something for them. But there was no time. I got an opportunity to stand by them through JCI Dhaka West. I promise to stand by them in any problem through the organization.’
Bappi spoke to several transgender people who attended the event. He listens to their happiness and sorrow. The actor gave several tips to transgender people to talk about their rights without bothering anyone.
JCI Dhaka West local president Muhammad Altamish Nabil presided over the program and local vice president Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Project Director Iqbal Hossain Eku, Project Lead Ashek Farabi, Co-Lead Nishadul Islam and many others.
It is known that through the project, free medical camp and discount system will be organized in public toilets of Dhaka city along with separate toilets for third gender people.
Local President Altamish Nabil said about ‘Fight for Equality’, ‘A woman or a man has exactly the same rights as a man or a woman in the society. But in many cases they are deprived and abused. Our initiative is to prevent gender discrimination and ensure sanitation and medical treatment for them.
Through this initiative, 3 public toilets in Gulistan, Jatrabari and Shahbagh of the capital have been opened for the use of third gender people, said the director of the project, Iqbal Hossain Eku. Henceforth these public toilets will have separate stickers to ensure the use of men and women as well as people of the third gender. Apart from this, it has been informed that a medical health camp and a mobile toilet will be inaugurated for them in September.
