The Brazilian Football Confederation said they do not want to play the canceled World Cup qualifying match as requested by Argentina. The Brazilian federation will ask FIFA to cancel the match.

A statement said the Brazilian federation will send a letter to FIFA to cancel the main match after speaking with coach Tite and Brazil team coordinator Juninho Pualister.

The World Cup qualifying match between Brazil and Argentina was supposed to be held in September last year. Argentina also played a five-minute match when they toured Brazil. But Brazil’s Ministry of Health postponed the match due to the Corona regulations. Because several Argentinian footballers have been accused of traveling to Brazil without complying with the Corona rules.

FIFA sent letters to the two federations through CONMABLE to play the postponed match. But for the first time, Argentina objected to playing the match in Brazil. Brazilian Federation President Ednald Rodríguez said the Argentina Football Association also agreed to cancel the match.

According to the Brazilian Federation, “Brazil will accept the compromise proposal sent by the Argentine Federation and FIFA not to play the postponed match next September.” As suggested by the coaches, we will ask FIFA to cancel the match. Because now our main goal is to win the sixth World Cup in Qatar.
