Pakistan’s legendary pacer Shoaib Akhtar recently underwent knee surgery in Melbourne, Australia. He is still admitted to a hospital there. After the successful surgery, Shoaib asked fans to pray for a speedy recovery.
Rawalpindi Express said by posting a video on social media. In an Instagram video, Shoaib told supporters that he is now out of the operation theatre. It takes 5 to 6 hours to perform the surgery on both his knees.
The former right-arm pacer asked the fans for prayers and said, ‘Hopefully this is my last surgery because I can’t bear the pain anymore. Alhamdulillah, the surgery is over. It will take some time to fully recover. I want everyone’s prayers.
Shoaib, who retired 11 years ago, also said, ‘I could have played for another 4 to 5 years. But if I had done that, I would have been in a wheelchair today. As a result I had to decide to retire.’
Shoaib has played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs and 15 T20Is for Pakistan. He took 444 wickets in all. In December 1997, Shoaib made his debut in the Pakistan team with a test match against the West Indies at home in Rawalpindi. Last international match played in 2011 World Cup, against New Zealand at Pallekele.
