Millions of people have been without power in China’s southwest Sichuan province amid intense heat waves and lack of rain.

This information was reported by the BBC about the local media.

According to the news, about 5.4 million people live in Tazhou city. There the electricity is cut off in this heat wave. Which lasts about three hours.

Officials say factories in the province are being forced to cut production or shut down to maintain power supply to households.

Meanwhile, the temperature in Sichuan and its surrounding provinces has exceeded 40 degrees Celsius recently.

According to officials, almost half of the reservoirs used for hydropower generation have dried up.

Meanwhile, due to intense heat waves, the demand for electricity in air-conditioned offices and houses has increased. Due to which the power supply companies are in trouble.

The Yangtze River, Asia’s longest waterway, has seen a record low. Some parts received less than half the normal rainfall.

The river’s level in Wuhan, Hubei province, is at its lowest level since records began in 1865.

But the good news is that there is still no shortage in the supply of drinking water. But there is a shortage of water in agriculture.
