Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina awarded ‘Bangmata Begum Fazilatun Necha Mujib Padak-2022’ to five prominent women for their outstanding contributions in various fields on the occasion of the 92nd birth anniversary of Bangmata, consort of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman .

The five distinguished women who have received the ‘Bangmata Begum Fazilatun Necha Mujib Padak-2022’ are Syeda Jebunneza Haque (Sylhet) in the field of ‘Politics’, Selima Ahmad MP (Comilla) in Economics, Professor Nasreen Ahmad, former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University in Education, Social Service Delete the case. The highest national medal ‘Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesha Mujib’ Medal in category ‘A’ has been awarded since 2021 in recognition of the contribution of women in eight fields every year with the aim of commemorating the contribution of Bangmata.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister of State for Women and Child Affairs Fazilatun Necha handed over the awards to the Indira Padak recipients. A medal weighing 40 grams of 18 carat gold, a certificate and a check of Tk 4 lakh were given as awards. State Minister for Women and Child Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira presided over the event.

Eminent poet Anwara Syed Haque presented an original essay on Bangmata’s biography and Chemon Ara Tayyab, Chairman of the National Women’s Organization participated in the discussion.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the cover of a book written by her titled ‘Sheikh Fazilatun Necha Amar Ma’. He also inaugurated ‘Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nescha Mujib’ a state-of-the-art 10-storey hostel for working women in Dhaka.

On the occasion of Banga Mata’s 92nd birth anniversary, the Prime Minister inaugurated a program to distribute financial assistance of Tk 50 lakh to 2,500 underprivileged women through mobile banking. The district administration joined the Gopalganj program to officially start this program, but this program is celebrated all over the country. Every woman is getting 2000 rupees. Of the total amount, Tk 13 lakh is being distributed among the women of the flood affected districts of Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Habiganj and Netrakona. Besides, a total of 4,500 sewing machines were distributed among distressed women across the country.

Documentary films based on Bangamata’s biography were screened on the occasion. An information film about the state-of-the-art working women’s hostel constructed by the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs was also displayed at the event. Later, a special prayer was also held seeking forgiveness of the souls of the Father of the Nation, Bangamata and the martyrs of August 15, 1975.
