Local people and relatives of the victims said that the batteries of the battery-operated rickshaws are periodically charged in the garage. Empty hand sanitizer jars, containers, perfume bottles, and various chemical containers are kept in the junkyard. From Saturday morning, the workers were straightening these old containers, bottles, buckets and other items by pressing the scrub machine. While working, there was a loud explosion at around 12:30 in the afternoon and the fire caught fire. Eight people including Malik Mazharul were burnt. Later they were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. After that, around 2:30 in the afternoon, a fire broke out again in the rickshaw garage and the goods warehouse adjacent to the warehouse.

When asked to know the cause of the explosion, Monirul Islam said that the explosion may occur due to the gas being generated in the pot or the jar and coming in contact with the fire. Regarding the next fire, he said that the electric charge was being given to the battery of the rickshaw.
