An eight-year-old boy named Mohammad Shamim died after being hit by a train in Moghbazar Wireless Gate area of the capital. The tragic incident took place on Monday afternoon when the child was playing on the railway tracks.
Railway police and eyewitnesses said Shamim was playing on the wireless gate rail line around 1.30 pm. He was seriously injured when a train leaving from Kamalapur hit him. After that Shamim was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
The child’s father, Rubel Mia, said that their house is in Chandri Kanda village of Dhobaura police station in Mymensingh. Currently, he lives in the slums of Wireless Gate area with his wife and children.
He also said that his son regularly plays on the railway line near the house. He cannot accept that such an event will happen.
Inspector in charge of Dhaka Medical Police Camp Bachchu Mia said that the child’s body has been handed over after the post-mortem.
