A fire broke out in a multi-storied building in Dhaka’s Azimpur Government Colony around 5:30 am on Monday.
Fire Service Control Room Officer Khaleda Akhter said that the fire broke out on the sixteenth floor of building number 6 of Azimpur Government Colony. However, the residents put out the fire before the fire service personnel went.
It is known that a person of building number 20 called the emergency service hotline 999 after seeing the fire in the window of the staircase of building number 6 next door. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot after receiving the information.
Fire service officer Khaleda Akhter said that the residents of the building kept old items on the stairs. Someone may have smoked a cigarette and thrown it there, hence the accident.
Although no one was injured in the fire, panic spread among the residents.
