In the face of criticism and pressure, Begum Rokeya University Registrar Engineer Muhammad Alamgir Chowdhury finally returned the illegally levied festival allowance. He deposited this amount in the university fund last Thursday. The University Accounts Office confirmed the matter on Monday.
The university administration paid Tk 1 lakh 48 thousand 800 to the registrar as Eid festival allowance along with dues in violation of contractual appointment conditions. In the face of these criticisms and pressure, Registrar Alamgir Chowdhury deposited the extra 91 thousand 186 taka taken as festival allowance to the university fund last Thursday. The registrar declined to comment when contacted.
